CranioSacral Therapy (often referred to as CST) is a rehabilitative therapy that applies gentle pressure at receptive points over the body to restore nat- ural rhythms and remove restrictions between the brain and spinal cord.
There is fluid sur- rounding the brain and spinal cord called cerebral spinal fluid (CSF).
CSF should move and flow rhyth-mically. When it doesn’t, it causes restrictions. When this happens the body has a ten-dency to get tense and re-sponds poorly to external stressors causing symptoms such as an inability to relax, trouble concentrating, ADD, ADHD, lethargy and restless-ness. We often refer to your body being “out of harmony” when we observe this lack of rhythm.
Would CST be good for me?

. This is an extremely gentle, yet powerful technique with no sudden moves, pops or cracks so it is fantastic for grandparents, parents, pregnancy, kids and infants. It’s not an adjustment but the restoration of the body’s natural rhythm. When tension is removed from the brain and spinal cord we often call it “unwinding”. Unwinding and finding harmony allows the body to function optimally, the way it was intended.
This technique is particularly effective for the patient that is highly sensitive or perceptive to their own body’s harmony. If you’ve noticed changes in your ability to focus or concentrate, if you’ve had new stresses in life or a progressive onset of symptoms, this technique can make large changes on its own or in conjunction with manipulative chiropractic technique. This technique is very effective for the non-responsive injury or the patient with a tendency to always be the first to get sick.
.
CranioSacral Therapy uses very gentle pressure (often less than the weight of a quarter) with dramatic, undisputed results. By applying gentle pressure to receptive sites the doctor is able to remove restrictions along the spinal cord and brain. This technique is highly recommended for newborns due to the lack of risk.
It’s easy to envision how restrictions in the brain and spinal cord could affect the entire body and the appli-cations of this technique are equally broad in their scope. Conditions that may be avoided or improved by treating newborns include colic, vomiting, hearing problems, motor problems, seizures, palsy, torticollis, chronic otitis (ear infec-tions), dyslexia, aphasias, Down’s syndrome, autism, failure-to-thrive and abnormal fears.
